FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

1) DO YOU SHIP/ADOPT OUT OF STATE/COUNTRY?
Yes we can send ADOPTED Poms (Not Fosters) out of state but it is first based on the dogs health and temperament. Then it's highly subject to local rescues doing a home inspection and your veterinary reference. Transport out of state has to be arranged by the adopter. Typically adopters fly in and carry them on the plane home. You are looking at $100-500 adoption fees, $40 a crate, $50 health cert and about $300 for your dogs flight. You can call American, Continental and Delta to get prices. Transport costs are case by case especially depending on your timing of booking the flight for your dog. For ground transport we highly recommend Precious Pet Transport found on Facebook.

2) OUT-OF-STATE
If you live outside of California, here is a short list of suggestions on where you can start looking for Pommies in your area: National Pomeranian Rescue

3) HOW DO I GET AN ADOPTION/FOSTER APPLICATION?
Applications must be submitted to begin the adoption/foster process. Please click on the this LINK to download our PDF Application to your computer. Fill it out entirely and then email us or print it out and snail mail it to:

4) HOW MUCH ARE YOUR DOGS?
Donations are between $100 and $500 depending on age. This is to help cover shelter pull fees, the cost of transporting them to vet or foster care, medical evaluations, micro-chipping, needed grooming, dog food, pee-pads, and sometimes lengthy kennel costs just to name a few. ALL of our Pommies are pre-screened for behavioral, temperament, and health conditions prior to placement through our Vet's.

5) WHERE CAN I SEE PICTURES OF DOGS FOR ADOPTION OR IN NEED OF FOSTERING?
We are SO glad you asked! You can see dogs available with the Southern California Pomeranian Rescue found under our Photos section on Facebook and on our website!  Our Facebook albums are always up-to-date.

6) ARE YOU A NON-PROFIT?
Yes! We are thrilled to share that in 2009 we were recognized by the State of California as a Not-For-Profit entity run by a small group of Pommie loving volunteers who hold jobs as well.

7) I NEED TO FIND A HOME FOR MY POMERANIAN?
We will be able to take your Pommie and find a new loving home for him or her. Please fill out our Surrender Form found on our website on the Contact Us page and include as much history about your Pommie as possible. This is so that we can place them in the perfect home. Mention things like: are they housetrained, are good with children and other animals, etc. Also include any bad behavior too!  We might be able to correct the issue(s) if possible. Finally, email or snail mail us with a photo. Placement fee's do apply as all our dogs do have to have medical evaluations required by law.

8) DO YOU HAVE "TEA CUP" POMERANIANS?
Per the American Pomeranian Club (APC)"... the average size of the Pomeranian is from 3 to 7 pounds, with the ideal weight for the show specimen being 4 to 6 pounds."  No, we do not since per the APC, Tea Cup Pomeranians do not exist. But, certain breeders on-line and in the papers will tell you they do in order to sell you a 3-4 lb Pommie claiming it to be a "Tea Cup". The APC does not recognize the "Tea Cup" class and any reputable breeder (with a Guarantee) will not have a "Tea Cup" in their litters. We do not have Tea Cups, but on occasion we do get small Pommies as little as 3lbs. Keep checking back or contact us!
